Welcome to 44 Basketball's tutorial on how to perform a basic layup for beginners. In this video, Coach Lucky will be showing you the proper technique for executing a right and left-handed layup.

Step-by-Step Guide:

  1. Start by dribbling the ball with your right hand towards the basket on the right side of the court. For the left-handed layup, start with your left hand and on the left side of the court.

  2. Begin your approach about 2-3 steps away from the basket. Take your last step with the foot opposite to the hand you will use to shoot the layup. For example, if shooting with your right hand, take your last step with your left foot.

  3. Jump off your outside foot while extending your shooting arm towards the basket and keeping the ball close to your body.

  4. Use the backboard as a guide and aim the ball to hit the square above the rim.

  5. Land on your outside foot while pulling the opposite knee up for balance.

Conclusion:

Remember to practice both the right and left-handed layups until you're comfortable executing them from any point on the court. With enough practice, you'll be able to incorporate these skills into your game and score more points.
